Jeemoon fashion comes now! Watch out!

Hamza Bokhari seems to be on the right track as creative head of retail brand Jeemoon.

Having put forth collections at both local and global fashion weeks and having already dressed an international celebrity, he has been working at his craft and evolving his skills since he graduated from the Pakistan Institute of Fashion cheap formal dresses brisbane Design (PIFD) in 2012. The Express Tribune catches up with Bokhari after he wraps up his stint at PLBW and the spotlight that follows winning the rising talent slot at the showcase.

“We understand the modern Pakistani woman and the fact that sleeves and dupattas aren’t going anywhere,” says Bokhari about his success mantra. “The ability to incorporate international trends into Pakistani wear is what we focus on. We have gowns and shirts in our store but they’re made keeping our culture and body types in mind,” he adds. Knowing one’s target audience is of utmost importance for any business and that’s what Bokhari feels sets Jeem apart from the plethora of women’s-wear brands.

Bokhari had been applying for the rising talent segment for the past two years and simultaneously planning a cheap formal dresses melbourne collection inspired by Russian culture. “The rising talent platform was extremely fruitful because it gives you incomparable, unparalleled exposure. The industry comes out to support you and you’re able to broaden your horizons,” he shares.

The designer boasts an adequate skill set to cater to a large market and currently has his hands full with bridals and prêt. He has to his credit dressing pop sensation Heart Hays in a hand-painted gown for The Grammys earlier this year, which is testament to his versatility in design. Bokhari’s work was first noticed by Hays on Instagram under the hashtag ‘NativeAmerican’. It was a dress from his debut collection at PSFW titled ‘White Indians’, which was also a part of his thesis collection at PIFD.

He had the honour of representing Pakistan at the International Fashion Showcase conducted by the British Fashion Council and London School of Fashion in February this year. He was nominated by the PFDC and British Council to be part of their ‘Next in Line’ segment, which presents 10 designers from around the world who are at the onset of their careers.

For his installation, where he could showcase his talent sans commercial restraints, he presented an embroidered crop top and jacket over cobalt blue leather culottes. But despite these achievements that are unprecedented for a novice in a fledgling industry, Bokhari holds, “They jointly didn’t give me the amount of publicity and media attention that showing at PLBW did.”

Virginia Teen Students Says Dress Got Her Kicked Out of Prom

Image: A Virginia teenager said she was kicked out of her prom because some of the chaperones thought her dress was too short

A 17-year-old girl said she was kicked out of her prom because some of the dads chaperoning the event for home-schooled teens thought her dancing would give the boys "impure thoughts."
Claire Ettinger of Richmond, Virginia, described the ordeal in a post that was published on her sister's blog on Monday.
"The whole situation made me feel violated, walked over and ostracized," Ettinger said in the post.
The night was off to a rough start on Sunday when a prom organizer purportedly criticized her for showing up in a dress that she argued was too short for the prom. Ettinger said in the blog post that her fitted, sparkly dress met her school's "fingertip length" bridesmaid dresses online code requirement. Still, the event organizer, described as Mrs. D, warned her to "make sure it stays pulled down."
Ettinger said she was amused to find that girls in the ballroom wore dresses much shorter than hers, but because they were shorter than her, their dresses weren't as controversial.
"I have long legs, everything looks short on me," she said she told the organizer.
Mrs. D later plucked Ettinger from the dance floor because "some of the dads who were chaperoning had complained that my dancing was too provocative," she said.
Ettinger's date and the group of friends she arrived with decided to leave with her. She was given a full refund for the prom, but she called out the event organizers for not delivering on a promise to refund her friends' tickets when they decided to leave with her.
The Facebook page for Richmond Homeschool Prom was reportedly shut down after it was inundated with negative comments about the the incident.
Ettinger's family and boyfriend corroborated her story when they spoke to NBC affiliate WWBT. The family said Claire will not be speaking on camera because she is a minor. Her sister Hannah spoke to WWBT and vouched for the teen's story.
"My mom said that it was a hot little thing, but it was definitely within the guidelines," Hannah Ettinger said.
Phone calls to the organizers of the Richmond Homeschool plus size evening dresses were not returned at the time of publication.

New Prom dress from favomode prices giving families taffeta shock

evening dresses

Inspired by celebrities on the red carpet, influenced by couture photos circulated on Pinterest and armed with price information from online browsing, American girls plan to spend more when they shop for cheap formal dresses this year.
"I have a budget of $200 for my dress, because I know from shopping online that most prices are $150 and up," said Anna Brown, 17, while shopping at Macy's in Manhattan this week. Brown, a senior at Newtown High School in Elmhurst, New York, will attend her prom on May 27.
Brown has no idea what her total prom spend will be this year, because it all starts with the dress.
If she is anything close to average, Brown's wallet will be much lighter at the end of next month. Overall spending on U.S. prom events is forecast to rise to an average of $1,139 per family in 2013, up 5 percent over last year - and higher than the 1.5 percent rate of inflation in the United States - according to Visa Inc's third annual survey of prom spending.
Depicted in movies as sweet as "Pretty in Pink" and as disturbing as "Carrie," the prom is an American institution - a lavish dance that traditionally celebrates the culmination of high school.
While Visa's survey does not break down exactly where that average spending of $1,139 comes from, teens typically focus on attire first. Adding to the cost are event tickets, limousines, hotel rooms or after-party events, corsages and other accessories, hair, makeup and other extras.
The prom price tag is up significantly from a 2008 survey by Hearst's Seventeen magazine which found families were planning to spend $566 on the prom.
The official tallies are not in from this year's prom season yet, which runs through June. But stores like David's Bridal are already seeing higher spends this year, with dresses going for an average of $100 to $150.
Windsor Store chain, another retailer with 62 locations across the United States, said this year's average prom dress costs $100, and families are spending about $300 total in their stores.
There are also online retailers selling both new prom dresses and reselling used ones. "The average prom dress on our site sells for $150 but retails for average of $300," said Tracy DiNunzio, chief executive officer of Tradesy.com, which is an eBay-like site for fashion. "For a lot of families that $300 is a big investment for a cocktail dresses australia that a girl's going to wear once. We've seen parents that make their daughters promise to sell the dress after they wear it."
However, the dresses can be hard to part with. Emily Casarola, a 16-year-old from Colts Neck, New Jersey, intended to hold on to her $250 dress, at least for a little while. If anything, she said, she would eventually donate it to a site like Operation Prom or Cinderella's Closet, which provides dresses to families that cannot afford them.
Who pays?
Casarola ended up getting her white, feathered dress from David's Bridal, where her mother Amy, 50, works as a district manager. They did plenty of shopping online and at other stores first, and a lot of checking on a private Facebook group to make sure that none of her friends were buying the same thing. They also picked up $35 earrings, $50 shoes and a $149 bridal headband. The family had a budget of $500 before Emily would have to start contributing her own money.
Nationally, Visa's survey found that parents were planning to pay 59 percent of prom costs, and teens were paying the remainder themselves. The survey also noted that families with income less than $50,000 were planning to spend $100 more than the national average on prom, and that single parents were planning to spend double the amount of married parents - $1,563 versus $770.
Credit card issuer Visa conducted a telephone poll of 3,000 families nationally over February and March, which was twice the size of its sample last year. The company launched a new smartphone app, Plan'it Prom, to help with the budgeting process.
"It's become a social arms race," said Nat Sillin, Visa's head of financial literacy. "It's an opportunity for parents to engage their teens and have a conversation about budgeting."
That is exactly what has been going on in the Astoria, Queens, household of Amalia Garced, 17, who has a May 17 prom for her Manhattan high school, Vanguard. She has been talking to her mother - whose budget tapped out at $500 for her own prom years ago - about what she should spend.
Garced planned to spend no more than $300 for the dress, $20 for hair, $40 for nails and then she also has to pay for shoes, plus tickets for herself and her date. Her mom is helping with half of the cost of the limo, but she is paying for everything else on her own.
"I never thought I'd have to spend so much," she said, while shopping in Macy's with a friend. "It's like, 'Oh my goodness, how am I going to afford all of this?'"

Sexy Jumpsuit That Is Super Stylish And Perfect For Many Occasion

For the star-studded Wang show, Gaga flashed her midriff in Daisy Dukes and a jumpsuits for women, and teetered into the show on sky-high glittery platform shoes.A fixture on the vintage clothing and costume shop scene, Costume Party is closing today after nearly 30 years in the business. We caught up with the owner,

Spig, who tells us “the party’s over” after five years on Haight Street, 15 years on Fillmore Street, and finally, 11 years in Nob Hill. The window shop shows a story of paperwork with the building owner leading to the store's eviction.Hoodline: How did you find yourself at a vintage store on Haight Street?

I was unemployed, found a little vintage store on Haight Street, talked the guy into letting me have a job, and I helped him build Held Over, where I was the first store manager and worked there for two and a half years. My ex-boss had a partner and the partner didn’t really like me. This was when AIDS came, in ‘84, and he had AIDS.

And he decided to get out of San Francisco, bought property in Davis, California, and made a store up there. But in the meantime, he’d bought a building on Haight Street, and said, "well, the deal is I can’t own and operate a store on Haight Street because of my deal with my partner, but you could, and I’ll be your partner, and I’ll supply you." So, I became the proxy. It was where the soccer store is now.

One ways to wear a sexy jumpsuits this fall to work

Despite how much the words "perfect fit" are thrown around, most women know the concept to be near-mythical. The current sizing system is inconsistent and ever-changing, making fitting room experiences fraught with compromise. The worst offender? sexy jumpsuits

Qcut is one company addressing the issue with customization. Founder Crystal Beasley told Mic that too many women feel as if clothes are designed for a woman other than them — someone shorter, taller, bigger, smaller. So she worked with Gerald Ruderman (who came up with the original sizing algorithm for Levi Strauss) to create a new way to size. Input your height, weight, shoe size, bra size and the size of your best fitting pair of pants, and QCut's algorithm will pick from one of 400 sizes of jeans that will (hopefully) be perfect for you.

These made-to-order jeans are revolutionizing not only fit, but also the manufacturing process. Beasley is eliminating the need for giant factories filled with pre-made clothes, and she plans to build a special Qcut factory to fully embrace bespoke, slow fashion. But it's less about changing the fashion system to the sake of it, and more about how women feel.
